Prepare Your Quilt for Quilting
-
Press all seams well. I recommend all seams pressed to one side, not open. The threads of an open seam can be sliced through during the quilting process. This will result in a weak spot in a seam of a block.
-
Ensure all seams and stitches are secure. Please stay-stitch all biased edges and pieced boarders 1/8” to help ensure the stability of your top.
-
Please check wavy or ruffled borders. Fullness or puckers will not allow a top to lay flat when quilted. Extra pressing or reseaming - $30/hour.
-
Please mark the front, top and center of your quilt top and the top and center of the back with fabric safe tape or pins. Do not baste your quilt.
-
Frigga Green Needle Designs will sew on a strip of cotton waste fabric (to all 4 sides) in order to reduce distortion to the edges that is commonly seen when longarm quilting.
Prepare Your Backing:
If the Backing is pieced, remove selvaged edges; all seams must be pressed to one side. Please check that backing is square. I recommend a ½” seam allowance when joining backing pieces.

Sew your back with a 1/2" seam allowance
